Responsibilities

I had many different responsibilities while interning at Select Physical Therapy. I was responsible for observing the OT's, leading patients through various exercises, scribing for the therapists, recording measurements, performing hand/elbow ultrasounds, maintenance of the clinic (laundry, cleaning, etc). I also had the opportunity to help make parts for splints for patients. Lastly, I had the opportunity to sit in on staff meetings and attend "lunch and learns" at different therapy locations in the DSM metro.

Accomplishments

I believe my greatest accomplishment from my experience is that I was forced out of my comfort zone and met so many people through my time here at Select. I was able to provide help to many people and most importantly improve the quality of life in patients through treatments, exercise, stretching, etc.

What advice would you give?

Some advice I have for future students is to always be polite, organized, and be on-time. It is very important to be on-time to your internship and if there are any circumstances that will make you late make sure to be in contact with your supervisor. Communication is the most important thing and if you make communication your first priority you will be successful in whatever you choose to do.
