Responsibilities

During my internship from January to May, I assisted in leading/coaching olympic sport in the weight room, cleaned and organized the spaces, programmed workouts, modified movements, demonstrated exercises, and completed assignments given to me by the coaches for more opportunities of education.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment was being able to coach big teams (around 20-25 girls) all by myself. The main teams I worked with was swimming & diving, volleyball, soccer, softball, and track & field.

Learning experience

The greatest lessons I've learned is to be able to have patience and be able to adjust on the fly. Athletes may come in after a hard workout and you might have to change the workout, or an athlete could've just gotten injured so you'll have to be able to make some changes. Being able to adjust and communicate clearly with the athletes and the coaching staff is the most valuable lesson I've learned.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students in the Kinesiology and Health field is to just take it all in and enjoy it. Sometimes you are going to be fed so much information that it can feel overwhelming. Take in as much as you can and stay present so you can enjoy it!
