Responsibilities

My responsibilities included attending weekly clinical and operation meetings with department heads/managers, updating weekly and monthly admission, discharge, and census data, collaborating with team members on facility plans and programs, data entry, and managing the main reception desk and acting as a campus expert in welcoming staff and visitors.

Accomplishments

One of my greatest accomplishments during my internship was getting the opportunity to work on a sales and marketing plan for the Health Center. I was allowed the freedom to take this project on myself and make it my own. I was able to collect data over previous years and transform it into a format accessible to all while also presenting opportunities for the Health Center to meet upcoming goals for 2021.

Learning experience

My internship has taught me so much about what I want, and what might not be for me going forward in my career. Some of the most important things that I learned is to work hard and always put yourself out there and chase down new opportunities because you could end up working on something way out of your comfort zone but falling in love with it. I also learned how to bridge the gap between college courses and real work experience through my internship which was so helpful before just launching into my career.

What advice would you give?

My advice would be to really try and connect with the people you are working with! Out yourself out there and don't be afraid to make new friends because it will make the experience that much better. Have fun and don't be afraid to make mistakes - you're there to learn!
