Responsibilities

As Life Care Services Risk Management Intern, I was responsible for working with the safety team. However, I did have the chance to experience all of the other roles within risk management. For this internship specifically, my duties were to help improve safety within the home corporate office and its 140 life plan communities. I did this by creating a variety of great newsletters and infographics for all employees to help make their workday as safe as possible, and by doing this, the risk management team has a great refresh of resources. I also had many other tasks assigned and enjoyed all that I got to experience at this great company.

Accomplishments

The greatest accomplishment I had during my internship experience was accomplishing all goals I had in mind to accomplish by the end of my time. I expanded upon my professional network and became familiar with each LCS Risk Management team role. I also helped promote employee engagement by developing and giving them knowledge on various things they can do to improve employee engagement. Finally, I accomplished becoming very familiar with the Safety team and even got to experience a community visit in Minnesota to understand what this safety visit looks like.

Learning experience

Some of the biggest lessons learned were never thinking something is impossible to accomplish and aiming high so that you can not only accomplish all goals you have in mind but also expand and grow upon them.

What advice would you give?

My advice is always to be bold, ask questions, and always take every opportunity to get hands-on experience and become more familiar with the field of Kinesiology.
