My greatest accomplishment throughout this internship was coordinating a first-ever "Equipment Introduction 101" event at State Gym. The event's goal was to captivate a larger population of students with different identities and backgrounds to give them an opportunity to learn how to use resistance/cardio equipment in State Gym. In doing so, we hoped to create a welcoming environment for students looking to incorporate physical activity behaviors into their lives.
The greatest lesson I learned was the importance of making good connections with people around you. The larger you can build up your community, the more opportunities you will receive. You don't have to know everything! But, if you know the right person, you can learn many things.
What advice would you give?
Dear younger me, Don't be afraid to ASK! Ask those random questions, ask for help on a task, ask that person to hang out, and ask for those opportunities that will push you. If you don't ask, you'll never know what could have been, and you'll never see what you can do. No question is too dumb, but no questions are not enough.
