- Scheduling appointments for clinics - Putting together vaccination supplies for outreach clinics - Organizing medical paperwork - Attending outreach clinics - Creating educational newsletters for older adults (Responsibilities may be different depending on future public health issues)

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship was helping the community during the COVID-19 pandemic by putting together vaccination kits that would be given to different clinics around Story County and attending vaccination clinics. It is definitely a reward to say I helped get the country closer to ending the COVID-19 pandemic.

Learning experience

I learned how important communication and teamwork are within public health. Without either communication or teamwork, what you are trying to accomplish will take a longer time and may be much harder to accomplish. I also learned that even if you help only a small group of people, it still positively impacts the community.

What advice would you give?

My advice is to apply to some internships that you may not think you will go into career-wise as you may end up finding in the end that you enjoy working in that career field.
