Responsibilities
I was the state expansion intern. Outside of weekly Monday and Friday meetings with the team I got to work on many things. I created multiple spreadsheets, collecting contact information for maternal healthcare workers in various states Count the Kicks is or planning on expanding to in the future. I also helped revamp and update some of their promotional materials about their digital education and kick counting app. Lastly, I got to attend the annual luncheon and meet amazing people who are all participating in outreach of the Count the Kicks program.
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment was getting to build a robust contact list for Tennessee contacts and then Count the Kicks had a webinar there with the most people they have ever had from Tennessee.
Learning experience
I think that the greatest lesson I learned during my experience interning at Count the Kicks was understanding how multifaceted it is to move the needle towards change but it can be done. Although it is hard, remain passionate and you will see the fruit of your work.
What advice would you give?
Continue learning! The experience outside the classroom will continue to teach you in depth about what you've been learning in the classroom.
