Macy Armantrout

At Life Time I worked as a personal trainer on the fitness floor. Some of my responsibilities included leading group fitness classes, delivering 1:1 personal training sessions, taking potential clients through "on-boarding sessions", attending weekly staff meetings, and helping clean/organizing the fitness floor. I was brought on as a full-time employee so I worked around 38-40 hours per week.

My greatest accomplishment during the internship was being able to build incredible relationships with the clients I gained over the months and still keeping in touch with them to this day. Being able to watch your clients transform and reach their fitness goals is such an amazing feeling!

Learning experience

The greatest lessons I learned during my internship was that you are responsible for so much more than just delivering a good workout experience. Many of these clients needed a smiling face to greet them every time they arrived at Life Time. Some clients just needed someone to talk to that truly cared for their well-being and being able to be that person for someone is such a rewarding experience!

What advice would you give?

If you have a desire for helping others achieve their goals big or small, then you have chosen the right field. This field requires an incredible amount of empathy and patience, but the rewarding feeling you get in this career path is beyond worth it!
