Responsibilities
-Must have basic knowledge of barbell lifts such as snatch, clean and jerk, back and front squat, and deadlift -Be able to run athletes through basic warm-up, cool-down, and stretches -Perform regular upkeep of the weight room, weights, and barbells -Write custom programs for individual athletes -Come in ready and excited to coach, encourage, and celebrate your athletes -Be professional and build relationships with athletes and staff
Accomplishments
There were several accomplishments throughout the internship from various athletes' personal records to being able to confidently write a full twelve week program that I will get to test out on future athletes.
What advice would you give?
Building a good relationship with the people around you both coaches and athletes will help you immensely. It forms trust and encourages others to stay with the program/gym.
