A lot of the job was cleaning and conversing with members. I was trained how to completely sign members up with Anytime Fitness. I performed a decent bit of supervised machine maintenance.
I had a member approach me and tell me that in this past fall he had a heart related health incident (not sure if it was a heart attack or just many indicators present) and he was just starting to get into the swing of exercising regularly as prescribed by his doctor, and he said that it was my presence along with my managers were the main reasons he kept coming back. He became one of my favorite members to work with on a daily basis.
What advice would you give?
Definitely pick an internship that you know you will enjoy, and don't be afraid to turn down an offer if it seems that you and you potential superior are going to butt heads for a lot of the semester. There are plenty of good opportunities out there, just don't put off your search until the last minute.
