Responsibilities
Cleaning duties-such as wiping down equipment and monitors, 3 lead, EKG placement, phase I, II, and III of cardiac rehab, pulmonary rehab, patient exercise prescriptions, explaining exercises to patients, leading group warm up, monitoring heart rate, monitoring blood pressure, taking manual blood pressure, heart rate, and pulse ox when necessary, charting exercise sessions-including looking over sinus rhythm from session. Learning medical terminology Observing in-patient care and intake interviews Education sessions
Accomplishments
Getting to work one-on-one with my own patients as well as charting on my own. This was my biggest accomplishment because I was trusted to work on my own as if I was a MercyOne employee.
What advice would you give?
Work hard during your internship. Take it seriously because there is a strong possibility this is what you do for the rest of your life. You worked so hard to get to this point in your college career so end on a good note and enjoy every minute of it!
