Responsibilities

I was responsible for opening the research facilities gym every morning and helping new participants in the study learn proper form on all the exercise machines and band exercises we provided them. My other responsibilities entailed training other undergraduates on working with participants within the study. I was also in charge of writing the exercise prescription for every participant each week, uploading data collected from each workout session, ensuring the gym's cleanliness each week to ensure each piece of equipment still worked properly, and providing data marks each week during lab meetings.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship was hearing from participants how resistance exercise has helped them greatly by improving their mental health and the motivation they have to continue exercising after the study ends.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I learned thorugh my internship experience was that in a research study, you have to pay close attention to every little detail you see and hear from participants. This was a good lesson because it makes you more involved through the study to help ensure a research study can operate efficiently and change how this may work in a study.

What advice would you give?

I would advise future students in my major that I would always strive to keep learning new things, especially if you are involved in a research study, and to feel comfortable in training clients/participants.
