Exercise Psychology
Exercise Psychology research focuses on psychological responses to physical activity and psychological factors associated with physical activity participation and dropout. Emphasis is placed on the following:
- The relationship between acute and chronic physical activity and psychological responses
- Individual differences and psychobiological factors that influence this relationship
- The implications of psychological responses for long-term adherence
- The effects of physical activity and exercise on clinical outcomes and other neurobiological factors in mental illnesses (e.g., major depressive disorder, substance use disorders)
